my honest reaction to the second episode of the hashira training arc

feelings i had after i finished the episode. this is about the anime demon slayer.

i already kind of knew about giyuus backstory and that tanjiro was gonna help him remember sabito's words so i was really looking forward to that. But, i didnt expect it to be so.... anticlimactic? i was thinking that maybe the anime didnt execute it correctly but tbh the concept itself feels pretty rushed and out of nowhere. Like, yes we need to see the character's backstory and that needs to be triggered by some event, but it really felt like a character progression speedrun and not in a good way. And yes im aware thats not the end of giyuus arc cause we're gonna see more in the akaza fight and final fight but bruh, idk like, i feel like they made the backstory formula way too obvious with this one. Like, for being such an important character thats gonna keep appearing later and has a connection to tanjiro, they shouldve integrated it a bit better IMO.

OR maybe im exaggerating and it really was just supposed to be simple exposition, to set it up for later, idk man im not very good with words so i dont know how to explain what i feel.

also where tf is the giyuu fanservice scene???? was it that random frame in between tanjiro harassing him? thats it? 💀

ugh i dont know i have mixed feelings about the episode, yes it was funny and silly but, it kind of felt more awkward than emotional.

hhhhhh sorry i will keep talking about this.

now that i think about it, i dont think it was that the backstory was told too quickly but rather why the character said it and when and for what reason.

Like, i dont know about you guys but the fact that tanjiro himself didnt notice anything about giyuu and instead all of this happened cause rhe master literally told him to go do something cause he was sad, is kind of…….. weird and lame….. like whaaaaaat.

I still think it would be way more compelling if a pillar confronted him instead. you know like THE TWO PEOPLE THAT WERE QUESTIONING HIM AT THE MEETING?????? (sanemi and shinobu) but i know im biased because i like the pillars more than tanjiro and i want them to have more connections with each other.

im still thinking about this after hours of watching the episode and i will keep thinking about it because theres something underwhelming about this, and i need to figure out why.
